Do you love DIY projects?

I know I do! In this blog post, we will be making a farmhouse bow. You can use this for decoration or to hang it on your wall. This project is very simple and doesn’t require any fancy materials. It only takes about 15 minutes to complete so it’s perfect for beginners who want to learn how to make something cute and rustic. If you’re ready, let’s get started.

Things You Need

There is nothing special that you need for this project. All you will need is a piece of wire, some ribbon, and a pair of scissors and you are good to go.

  • Piece of Wire
  • Ribbon

We will be using a piece of wire that you can pick up from any hardware store. For the ribbon, we recommend going with burlap because it’s simple and rustic which is what farmhouse style is all about.

  • Scissor
  • Pencil
  • Hot Glow Gun
  • Measuring Tape

Step-by-Step Guide

01. Prepare for the first big bow

Take your wire and cut it into a 12-inch piece. Bend the wire in half so that it forms a loop. And tie the bow so that it remains strong enough. This is the larger or the base bow. We will attach the smaller bow over this one.

02. Make the small bow

Bend the other end of the wire into another loop, making sure that it’s smaller than the first one. This will create a small bow.

03. Secure the orange ribbon with a pipe cleaner

Take another pipe cleaner and wrap it around the orange ribbon. You can do this by wrapping it tight so that it forms a small knot or you can loosely tie it off with an asymmetrical bow.

04. Connect the Bows

Slide the small bow onto one end of the wire and then slide on a piece of ribbon.

Do this again with another pipe cleaner, wrapping it around both pieces of ribbon to secure them in place.

Take your hot glue gun and use it to attach the bows together by applying a line under each cord so that they are held securely in place.

05. Decorate the Centre of the Bow

Take a piece of ribbon and cut it into two-inch strips. You can make this as long or as short as you want to depend on the shape that you desire.

Loop each strip to create an infinite amount of loops, giving your bow some dimension.

06. Create a Bow Tail

Take the remaining ribbon and cut it into a 12-inch piece.

Fold the ribbon in half and then tie it off with a knot. This will create your bow’s tail. This tail will add much more glamour to your bow to make it look beautiful.

07. Attach the Bow Tail

A hot glue gun works best for this step, but you can use whatever adhesive you have on hand. Just make sure that you have a stronghold so that the tail can stay in place.

Once you are done, your farmhouse bow is ready to be hung up on the wall. This would look so cute in any room of your house and it’s also a really fun DIY project that anyone can do.
